      TROUBLESHOOTING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES:

There are many problems in InternalCombustion Engine. Here i am just discuss some of the problems of IC engine and their Solution.

                 

Problem :  Insufficient intake air 

IC Engine

                         

Possible Causes :

1. Blower failure

2.To a clogged air filter.

3. Improper valve timing. 

Solution :

1. Repair blower

2. Clean or change air filter

3. Adjust valve timing 

 Problem :  Clogged Air cleaners and Silencers

Possible causes :

1.Sometimes an engine will fire erratically or misfire because of clogged air cleaner or silencer

2.Air Filter is clogged.

3.Exhaust manifold Clogged.

Solution :

1. Air cleaners Must be cleaned at Specific Intervals

2. Air filter must be changed.

3. Exhaust manifold must be cleaned.

Some problems & what their reasonable causes with Solution are shown in below by Table-

Problem	What  Occurs	Why  Occurs	Troubleshoot
Insufficient  compression	If the charge of air and fuel cannot be compressed properly, the combustion process will not work like it should.	Your piston rings are worn. The intake or exhaust valves are not sealing properly.. There is a hole in the cylinder.	Check the compression with the appropriate instrument. If the test indicates pressures below standard, Dis assembly is required for complete inspection and correction
Insufficient Fuel Supply	An   insufficient  fuel  supply   may  result  from   a defective or inoperative part in the system.	closed inlet valve in the fuel piping or an empty supply tank. improper spring adjustment  or to clogged nozzle orifices-may rupture  the high-pressure fuel lines	Each  system should have a systematic inspection of its fittings and piping  to determine if  all  the parts  are satisfactorily supported and sufficiently  strong.
Foreign Matter in the Fuel Oil System	It corrodes the fuel injection pump. Incomplete combustion and engine knocks result.	Impurities  are  the  prime  source  of  fuel  pump  and injection  system  troubles. Water in fuel will cause irreparable damage to the entire fuel  system in a short time. Air in the fuel system will cause the engine to miss and knock,	Centrifugal  fuel, and  drain  the  fuel filter  cases periodically  to prevent excessive collection of water You must continually take steps to prevent water from accumulating in a fuel system, not only  to  eliminate the  cause  of corrosion  but also to ensure proper combustion in the cylinders
